Industries and commercial entities that have high energy requirements usually go for large-scale ground-mounted solar power projects to offset their electricity bills or as a part of their renewable power purchase obligations. These power projects usually are at a MW scale and are implemented at a suitable parcel of land away from the company premises due to area constraints.
As discussed earlier in this book, power generated from these power plants have to be evacuated to the nearest substation from where it gets fed into the transmission grid.
For a ground-mounted solar power project, at a scale of about 1-5 MW, Solar Mango estimates the project cost to be in the range Rs 4.5 to 5 crores/MW.
