Solar dried snacks make headway among health junkies

Taking a new spin on the centuries-old practice of preparing sun-dried vathals, startups are now processing vegetables and fruits through special dehydrators to ensure their preservations for six months to one year sans preservatives.
The making of vathals has been a well-known household ritual for many homes in the South during the summer months, where both vegetables and fruits are harvested in abundance. Replicating the method, Desi V Desi Foods has started dehydrating varied products from mango strips to papaya chunks for wider appeal to the health conscious.
